What does the S do on the shifter?

I have a 2019 Honda Fit lx automatic transmission and I'm curious about how to use it or what it does?

Driving in S means the engine is downshifting a lot to stay inside the power band. In other words, the engine will rev higher in S than in D. S is more aggressive.

Why would you want this? Driving on twisty and/or hilly roads where you need to keep revs up to avoid bogging while driving uphill or out of a turn. If you were driving the same roads in D, the engine would tend to bog with major changes in speed or direction.

Makes your Fit thinks it's on steroid.

It also makes it a lot more fun to use the CVT and paddleshifters. while using S you feel teh revs better, so you will know when to shift up or down "gear". You can do the same in D, but when slowing down, it will switch back to automatic gear shifts instead of your pressing
