Broken Center Console Latch

The black plastic latch on the center console broke. I tried 3D printing one I found online but couldn't make it work right with supports. I tried looking through parts catalogs but it appears to me that only the entire lid is available. Is this a part I can order separately somehow or am I stuck looking for a complete lid?

I'm in the same boat. They only sell the latch as a part of the full lid as far as I can tell. Check arround at some local scrap yards. I was able to get one a a U-Pull place and it didn't cost much. Also if you're inclined to glue the parts, I think they are ABS so if you use some pipe cement that should work really well. I'm gonna try to fix the old latch just to see if it's repairable.

As a temporary fix, I used my hot glue gun. Not sure how long that'll hold but I'll use that time to figure out a more permanent solution. Unfortunately none of the junkyards near me have much in the way of Fit parts.

You can also try online aggregators for junkyards. Might not be that much for the entire lid if you can find one:

I had someone 3D print the latch for mine on my 2016 FIT Ex. It works like a charm. He printed me a few of them. I did have the spring saved, so if you do, I'd be happy to send it to you. I can post a picture of the printed part when I get home.

I actually managed to find a 3d model that could be printed. I wasn't too successful due to the odd shape of the latch. Maybe my printer just sucks. But I know it can be done. And yes, I still have the spring.

🤷 I'm not certain how well this replacement works. I have a memory foam brick sitting on the arm rest to raise it to a functional/comfortable level, which doubles as enough resistance to keep the console lid closed.

Just curious how is everyone damaging their center console latch? I broke mine trying to take apart the lid to see how difficult it would be to reupholster it. Was being a bit of a fool trying to take it apart at night with poor lighting and at an odd angle if I recall correctly.

I broke mine the other day because i pulled and released it too quick and it snapped as soon as my fingers were off.
