Intermittent Clunking/Grinding noise when lightly braking

Howdy there y'all,

I've owned a 2015 Fit EX-L with about 96,000 miles on it for the past 10 months now. Every since I got the car however, there is a clunking/grinding noise that will come from the front passenger wheel when I lightly brake, and sometimes it will happen when I brake harder too. It's coming from some part of the brakes, as it occurs with each revolution of the wheel. Unfortunately found this out about a month after purchasing the car.

To remedy this, everytime the noise comes back I remove the front passenger caliper and lubricate everything (pins, springs, pads) and this temporarily removes the noise for about 1 month, or for about 300-400 miles each time. However, it always comes back and I'm at a loss of what it could be. I use AGS Sil-Glyde silicone brake lubricant each time I do this, should I not be using this? Could it be something else? I'm getting tired of taking the wheel off once a month.

I'm unsure when the brakes were last done, but they still have a lot of material left on the pads so I'm assuming not too many miles before I purchased the car. Any advice or direction would be appreciated. Tomorrow I'll attempt to get a video of the noise. Thank y'all

Welcome. Clunking noises from the front end are often suspension related as opposed to brakes. What's confounding about your problem is that it resolves with lubing the brakes but then comes back. So suspension vs. brakes. At 96K, could easily be either.

My first thought when reading your symptoms was a warped rotor. I know that 2015 Fits produced at the Honda factory in Celeya, Mexico had problems with rotors not being properly annealed, and warping way early, often before 10K. Details on this subforum.

Since you've rebuilt that brake several times, though, I'm assuming it's not a warped rotor, so I'm back to suspension.

Have you had the front end inspected? CVT joints, tie rod ends, shocks etc. That's my guess as to origin.

OP, can you tell us if this car has had ANY modifications/been in any accidents to your knowledge?
By mods, I'm looking for what wheels/tires/brakes/suspension are you running? is it all stock? if not, what exactly is it?
More info is needed before we can accurately give you suggestions.

Mine turned out to be small pebbles/rocks that got into the brakes from the dirt road we drive in and unfortunately scour the brakes, so now I have to replace the drums..

The rear drums? or do you mean the front disks?
