Question Wheel and Tire Size for Stock Height GK5?

Hey! I'm new to this group and this will be my first time posting.

Recently got my Used 2020 Fit GK5 MT last week and I want to upgrade my tires and wheels since I've experienced a lot of skids driving it home. My father advised me to get a new wheel and tires so I thought I might as well change my tire specs. (or not?)

I live in a tropical country and we don't have a winter season. I live in a city that has a lot of potholes, rough roads, and steep downhills/uphills in some parts.
My Fit is at stock 175/65r15 and at a stock height and suspension that I will not change due to high bumps in my area. I've already browsed a lot of forums and I've seen a lot of peeps who are suggesting 205/50r16, 195/60r15, 185/55r16, and 185/60r15.

I want to avoid rubbing especially when loaded as much as possible. I want a little bit of better handling but not sacrificing ground clearance.

What size do you recommend or should I just stick with my stock?

Thanks!

Considering you live in an area with many potholes, I'd suggest staying with 15 inch wheels.
Not only are they cheaper to purchase replacement tires, but they absorb potholes and bumps much better than larger wheels.
A third benefit, is better fuel economy than any of the other sizes you mentioned.

Here in N. America, my EX came with the standard 16 inch alloy wheels.
The tires were ready to be replaced, so considering I already wanted smaller wheels, I went to a 15 inch setup with improved performance.

If you really want to change the size for the sake of handling alone, the only tire i'd recommend would be the 185/60/15

why 185/60r15 over the 195/60r15? I heard that wider wheels do have better handling.

the stock size on my '19 fit lx 6 speed is 185/60/15 , i went with 195/55 tires on 7 x 15 rims . the offset on the rims is 40 mm as opposed to the stock 53 mm on 6" rims . i think
it definitely feels better on the road with the wider stance , and certainly looks better IMO . there are no clearance issues . mileage is still good , around 34.4 mixed and mid 40's strait
highway driving

Wheels are 15x7 Acura EL wheels (only available in Canada, same spec as a Civic from the same generation)
nice compromise of better handling and less harsh pothole impacts while giving better fuel economy over stock 16's

What do you mean you’re experiencing a lot of skids?

I'm guessing because the thread's life of my tires are low at. When doing corners on a wet road even at a slow pace, my tires are slipping. Even at braking downhill.

Yeah, that’s not going to be improved by a different tire size. Just a newer, better tire.

It's not the skidding that I really wanted to improve though, I know that new tires can somewhat solve that issue but like I said, since I'm gonna be changing my tires, might as well change my whole specs because I want a sporty look but I don't want to compromise these features either.

along with new tires you should consider a front wheel alignment , as the suspension settles , the toe in changes with it .

Mine has 195/55R16s. Has more aggressive tire options than 15s (I do enough spirited driving to sacrifice a bit of MPG for better handling) while not going too far from stock and maintaining roughly the same ride quality.
As for my tires, I have Yokohama Avid Ascent GTs. I hate the stock Firestones. They wear out in no time at all on all the customer's cars I've seen.
