Ex break in from emergency key hole

Has anyone else gotten their fit broken into by the !*#! jamming something in the emergency key hole on driver’s door? They got in but now key hole is broken and the actual emergency key won’t work in it. I didn’t even know someone got in my car until I got a text for fraudulent credit card use and opened wallet to see they took my cards and cash and left other items in wallet.
Also anyone have experience with repairing the key hole?
thanks,
D

Isn't this what auto insurance is supposed to cover?

-Yeah I know big mistake leaving wallet in car. Was on a mtn. bike ride and usually take it with or hide it well in trunk but I chanced it and was reminded how stupid it was. Not sure what they would have taken if wallet wasn’t there as my car is used for work and I do have tools in it. But thanks for asking.
-I will make an insurance claim depending on what the cost is to repair key hole.
- I was just wondering if this is a common break in for fits. It seemed so easy for them to do.
- not sure if alarm went off as if I was there I would have beat the ass wipe but they probably don’t hit it hard enough to trigger it and probably unlocking through the key hole was like using the key.

Breaking in by using a screwdriver or other flat tool on the keyhole has been the most common method for thieves for decades. Looks like it still works with modern locks.
