Fuel mystery
Fuel mystery
Hi, I have a 2017 jazz/fit vti. I replaced the fuel pump. The new pump seems to be working. I managed, with starter spray to get the engine going after some time. I turned the engine off and was then unable to get it started again. It still seems to have problems getting fuel. Is there a second inline filter somewhere ? I’m confused.
I'm no expert, but my understanding is that the pumps must never be allow to run dry for any length of time, especially the high-pressure one.
Low-pressure pump is mostly just cooled by fuel, but the high-pressure pump is cooled & LUBRICATED by fuel, so running dry for even a short period of time can damage them.
Quick search shows needing to prime the fuel system multiple times WITHOUT turning the car ON, so the system is as full of fuel as possible.
I don't see anyone using starter fluid in the procedure.
