Cleaning up fuel injectors
Cleaning up fuel injectors
Hello
I'm trying to clean fuel injectors of my Honda Fit 2015, with a simple DIY pressurized system. For this, I disabled the fuel pump by taking out the 15A fuse. Next, I localized the fuel inlet of the fuel injector rail and connect my pressurized system with the cleaning fluid, instead of the fuel line. I set the pressure to 40 PSI and started up the engine.
I tried this several times by changing the pressure to 45 PSI, 50 PSI and 55 PSI. But the engine didn't start.
I don't know if there is a fuel return line that maybe is causing some issues or the pressure inlet of the cleaning fluid is not the correct one.
I hope you can help me. Thanks

Yes, the car was working well. I'm trying to clean the injectors as part of maintenance. No engine codes appears, only a message on the screen saying "check charge system" I assume that this message is because I removed the fuse of the fuel pump.
New try
I reconnected all the hoses and the fuel pump fuse as they were in the begining. The engine starts well and no issues happened. I noticed that the engine won't start if the fuel pump fuse is missing, even if the fuel line is connected.
This means that if I want to clean up the fuel injectors, I have to tie up the hose of the fuel input line. So the fuel won't come out and make a huge mess.
Will you recommend another technic for cleaning up?

As far as I know the Fit direct injection fuel injectors cannot be cleaned. If there is a problem they have to be replaced. If you look at every single post here dealing with fuel injector problems, you will see that when the car is taken to a Honda dealer and the problem is the fuel injectors then they are replaced. There is never any mention of cleaning them. Never.
There was a Honda document that I read some time ago dealing with a fuel injector problem of some kind and somewhere in the document it clearly stated that the Fit fuel injectors cannot be cleaned - they must be replaced. Unfortunately I don't remember what that document was.
In all of the Honda Fit maintenance information I have never seen anything whatsoever about cleaning required for the Fit injectors. You are trying to do something you shouldn't be doing.

The only known way to clean fuel injectors (easily) is to run a FI cleaner through the fuel system. Have you tried Chevron Techron fuel system treatment (can run every 1K miles - reco using this in the last 1K miles before you change your oil). Techron does darken the oil a bit but many people have used this long-term.
