CVT tranny with metal shavings
Anyone have this happen to them ? 66K miles , all of a sudden tranny started slipping when accelerating from a standstill. Took it into the dealer, they initially told me the fluid was low and dirty and they needed to do a change to see if it fixes the issues. 10min later they call me back and told me I need a new tranny, when they drained it, this is what they found.
I will admit I have never changed the fluid, I bought the fit brand new...Ive always been under the impression its a closed system and the computer would tell me when I needed a fluid change...
These CVT's need new fluid every 30k miles, AFAIK.
My maintenance minder don't indicate to change the CVT fluid till almost 60k. I had the dealership do it to maintain the power train warranty. I'm at 83k and still chugging along.
OP, What material is that on the drain bolt? I'd open a case with Honda USA to see if they'd do a goodwill assistance in the repair. Tranny shouldn't be needing replacement that early.

My owners manual for a 2016 Honda Fit EX only say's "Have a dealer check the fluid level and replace as necessary". Followed by several warnings about using the Honda Approved Fluid.
But it doesn't state a timeline for replacement.
I'll keep digging, maybe I'm just not finding it.
