ATF Fluid Change. When?

Any idea when the CVT fluid should be changed? Will that light up on the dash as a service reminder? We have a Fit with over 25k miles, and I'd like to get the fluid ahead of time. Amazon has a case of 12 for about $100, which I'm sure is less than the dealer would charge. I'll have to shop around.

It's listed as a maintenance code 3 in the manual. Keep watch of the maintenance minder. No idea when it comes up, as mine is a manual.

Make SURE you are getting the correct CVT fluid.

The new version CVT trans uses HCF-2 fluid (above), not the older CVT fluid with a green label (below) or gray label.

The new stuff is about the color and consistency of motor oil.
The old stuff was a bit pink, lighter red than atf.

The fluids are not compatible or interchangeable. You cannot substitute one for the other.

At the shop we generally suggest every 30,000 miles.

It would be #3 on the maintenance minder.

This looks good - only $9.00 individually.

Thanks. This is what I was looking at - CVT.

Amazon.com: Genuine Honda (08200-9006-12PK) CVT-1 Continuously Variable Transmission Fluid - 1 Quart, (Pack of 12): Automotive Amazon.com: Genuine Honda (08200-9006-12PK) CVT-1 Continuously Variable Transmission Fluid - 1 Quart, (Pack of 12): Automotive

College Hills has it for $9.

Wrong stuff, definitely wrong for your car.

Right stuff, definitely right for your car.

This thread may have averted a disaster!

True, but I always double check before buying something that is so specific. There should be more compatibility of parts and fluids.

Depending on driving conditions, I'm usually seeing between 30 to 45k intervals on the second gem CVT fluid equipped Hondas. That includes the Fit, Accord, CR-V, and Civic.

I recommend keeping an eye on your MMS for the 3 subcode (indication transmission fluid replacement) or do it the years after having your Fit (old school service/year interval).
