What does it recommend in the manual? 5w20 or 0w20 most likely.

Yup. Forget about what the dealers say, what does your Honda owners manual say?

Manual is in Japanese lol
since it’s an imported car.
but I’ve been going through it, and it recommended 0w20 for all 3 models of honda fit. 13G (my model) , 15XL, and RS model.

wasn’t easy to find lol

thanks guys. Manual has a lot of info !! Cheers!

5w30 is probably in the acceptable range, however, the lower numbers mean better for cold weather. Unless you live in the tropical part of Canada, I’d stick with 0w

The mechanic is probably used to seeing 5w30 be the lowest grade commonly used. This was definitely true in the past. maybe still is for american cars (they design to allow for a bit of ignorance in maintenance .. not sure what that says about gms opinion of their customers), but many cars use the lower weights now.

Our first car with 0 was a civic hybrid and back in 2003 that was like “wow!” (and hard to find..)
