AUX input jack from 2017 LX to a 2018-20 LX

In 2018 the aux input jack on the LX trim was eliminated. The oem head units look the same. Has anyone tried buying the jack and cable from a 2015-17 and does it just plug into the rear of the head unit? I know they do back in 07-08, because I added an aftermarket plug in on a base model fit.

if so I wouldn’t even bother to mount it it the dash. I move an XM radio between cars and don’t want to use Bluetooth, and the sound is much better directly wired.

Can anyone post a picture/diagram of the 2017 vs 2018 LX oem head unit ?

thanks to everyone in advance.

Ok, the usb aux jack assembly can be ordered, but in the parts diagram there is no separate wire harness for the aux jack.

The question: is the male plug part of the main wiring harness in 2015-17 LX,
and is it still there on the 18-20 LX models wiring harness and how does it input into the rear of the oem head unit?

The 2017 LX instrument wire harness is
part # 32117-T5R-A01

The 2017 LX instrument wire harness is
part# 32117-T5R-B80

in the crude sketch I have the area around the aux/usb looks similiar.
Does anyone have more detailed drawing or wiring diagram of 17 vs 18
LX Fit ??

The above pics are from eBay auctions for VIN confirmed 18 and 19 LX trim radio HU rear plugins. The 2020 is the same as well

I think the eBay pics I have looked at the 15-17 LX configuration is different.
it’s tricky looking at eBay and VINs as the 16 and 17 were made in Japan and Mexico for the US market

What I would like to do is pull the lower dash section of my 17 LX that contains the 12volt USB and AUX in female plugs and look at the 3 harness plugs. If I had a 2019 or 2020 LX I would pull the same panel to see if the AUX connector is back there unused.

ANYONE done this to look for the AUX connector on an 18,19 or 20 LX, behind there unused? The aux jack is easily available if so to add along with an extension cable.

thank you everyone for any help

Thanks for the updates. I can't contribute anything, but am very curious to know if you have any success.

On closer examination I see the button on the front of the radio changed in the 2018-2020 years LX.

I still would like to pull the panel on an 18-20 dash and look for the male plug back on the harness, maybe it’s taped back; if I found one there then I’d be curious if there was an unused one up behind the radio HU itself. You could then possibly switch out a used 15-17 HU.

Sigh, looks like I’ll be getting a 12V socket plug in FM modulator for my AUX in.

The nice thing about the direct wire AUX in was the extra bass punch I get with my portable XM by adjusting its output pre HU/ by way of the AUX jack.
For a non audiophile it was a cheap fix
with upgraded front Polk audio spkrs.

I’ll repost when I get the 2020.
If anyone is brave enough to pull their 18-20 LX u.s.a market dash panel and look for the unused plug, I would greatly appreciate it.

I just bought a 2020 Lx. Thinking of switching out head units of my 2017 Lx to get the aux in jack. The usb harness runs directly to the head unit, 3rd plug. The aux harness does not. I suspect it runs to an amplifier and then either plugs 1 or 4 on the HU. The 2nd plug from right is unused on the 2017. The 5 plug is the antenna lead.

Im going to pull the forward console to see if there is an aux in plug taped back on the 2020. I can order the aux in jack but not the harness per the dealer.
I’ll report back. No point pulling the 2020 radio at this point.
I should note that the wire colors on the back of the AUX jack are not seen in any of the plugs on the back of the head unit. So I think the AUX wires probably go to an amp and then by different color wires to the head unit. It would be interesting to see a wiring diagram to confirm this observation.

I pulled the forward console on the 2020 Fit LX, there is no aux in harness taped back. The USB is still an independent line up to the head unit.

I was hoping because Nissan does this, uses same wire harness for different trims and leaves the unused plug taped back ie like for power mirrors when the trim doesn’t include power windows on S trim 2020 Frontiers.

So that’s it, aftermarket head unit or Bluetooth adapter for me, no using a the 2017 HU in the 2020 or adding the console jack to the 2020 LX
