Feeling: 2 months before saying good bye to my 2015 Ex
Needing a truck bed, I placed an order and I will be taking delivery of the Ford Maverick Hybrid truck in late June/early July. It has been 8.5 yrs since I picked up my Fit(Oct. 25, 2014) and I feel a little strange inside each time I see my Fit, knowing that in a couple months, I will have to say good bye to it.
The Fit has served me well over the years..... Mostly DIY
- First year, 21k miles
- Added all weather mats & cargo tray
- Added amp and replaced speakers
- Tinted windows, clear ceramic for windshield ($500 @ shop)
- Flying rock took out my windshield, replaced with OEM windshield and re-do clear ceramic through insurance
- 2nd year, 20k miles (41k)
- Replaced tires with 205/50/16 at 36k and alignment (America's Tires)
- UFO took out my driver side mirror at 37k while going at 70mph on the highway, replaced side mirror
- 3rd year, 17k miles (58k)
- Loaned out my car, and car ran over something on the highway that took out the subframe/transmission. Replaced subframe and transmission(2017) with 5k on it at the dealer, through insurance.
- 4th year, 3k miles (61k)
- 5th year, 9k miles (70k)
- Replaced batter with 51R from Costco
- Replaced starter at 62k (I provided part and shop replaced it for me for $75)
- 6th year, 5k miles (75k)
- Replaced brake pads(OEM) and resurfaced rotors.
- Replaced tires due to hitting pothole and a bulging on a tire. (America's Tires)
- 7th year, 4k miles (79k)
- Re-soldered the lose connections on the instrument panel
- 8th year 5k miles (84k)
- 9th year.... @869xx right now
- Replaced liftgate struts (Feb. 2023)
- Replaced alternator(voltage regulator failing) and serpentine belt(was in pretty good shape still) at 85k
Regular Maintenance..
- Change oil/filter when light comes on or at least once every 12 months
- Replace windshield wipers every 2 years
- Flush brake fluid every 3 yrs
- Transmission fluid drain fill at 40k and 80k
- Engine/cabin filters every 20k
- Tires rotation every 5k miles

If you are looking to pick one up, do plan ahead.
It was not too bad if your hands are steady with the solder iron, It was about as difficult as taking out the radio head unit. Take out instrument panel, solder, put back the instrument panel all within an hour. And it costed me like $12 for a small roll of lead free electrical solder, and I only used very small amount of the solder, like $0.50 in solder worth. If taken to the dealer, they would want to replace the instrument panel with a new instrument panel, which is like $1,000 + labor.
The most time consuming, while also costing me the most in the DIYs was adding the amp/speakers without splicing the factory wires.

Mine too. But it was also the most fun to do (so far).
lol, I am glad you had fun doing it. I was annoyed at the crappy sound from the OEM speakers, so I had to change them out. While at it, I wanted to add an amp and didn't want to splice the cables, so I had to do some diggings on the forum here on the wire mappings, then figure out how to add pins/cables to the harness.

The wealth of info was enough that all I needed was a weekend to get everything to get it all installed.
I'm still sorta impressed it still works so well, dspite not needing any additional advice/support.
So what setup did you end up with?
Lol, yup, sounds like my process too.

Maverick(2023 XLT Hybrid):
1) A lot bigger/taller than the Fit
2) The dial gear shift = I am still not used to it
3) I am still adjusting to needing the key to start the car and the key to unlock the door
4) MPG is better than the Fit with no change in my driving habit
5) Not too concern with speed bumps
6) AC is actually cold in LA's summer heat
7) Parking takes up more space
8) It has a bed!
9) AndroidAuto
10) No need to use the low profile ramps before the floor jack
Fit(2015 Ex CVT):
1) Handling is better
2) Corner better
3) More fun to drive
4) You can squeeze in a lot easier
5) Cool AC in LA's summer heat, never cold enough even with ceramic tint to all windows
6) Walk up to the car, and just open the door with the key FOB in the pocket
So far those are what are standing out between the 2 for me....
I have had my Maverick for a couple months now. And this is my experience with the Maverick and the Fit.

I'm in no rush to replace the fit though. It's paid off, cheap to insure and property tax isn't too bad. I'm hoping to push it out as far as I can, but a truck with a bed would be nice for home projects. I've been able to rent a truck or just pay for big things to be delivered. Delivery fees are annoying but it doesn't happen that often.
Glad you're enjoying the truck.
