New here, got some fit issues.

How's it going. I have a 2015 fit, 164,000 miles. I've had it going on 9 years now. Yesterday I noticed on the highway that when I would hit 60 the car seemed to struggle to maintain the speed. Also noticed the rpms were getting up to 5 almost 6000. Took it to a mechanic and said it was the transmission but because it's a cvt they couldn't work on it. Any ideas on what it could be? Drives fine going 40 under, no shaking or anything I've noticed but just once I get to 60 is when I notice what's going on. Hoping this isn't something thats gonna cost me thousands. Taking it to the dealership tomorrow. I've never had the transmission fluid changed the entire time I've had her. I've always asked the folks at the dealer if its necessary and they've just said it's up to you. Thanks in advance!

Welcome. Yes, it's necessary to replace the CVT fluid. You can go by the Maintenance Minder, or just replace it regularly, say every 30K miles.

I'd steer clear of any shop that thought it was a good idea to go without by saying "it's up to you.". They know that regular maintenance pays off in the long run, and that if you forgo that maintenance, they will get a big repair job from you when (not if) the CVT fails.

If you've never replaced the CVT fluid at 164K, there is a good chance your CVT internals are damaged beyond repair. It's the equivalent of running an engine with low or no oil. Eventually something will give.

Good luck and let us know how it plays out.

Ouch! Unfortunately it will be in the thousands for this repair.

You can consider changing the transmission fluid (Honda fluid only) now and see if it helps. At this point you really have nothing to lose by doing this. If that doesn't help then you are looking at changing the transmission, possibly to a used one from a wreck. Not sure if new transmissions are still available and these thing just don't get repaired/overhauled.

Keep Or Sell.

Consider the cost of a new or rebuilt transmission and wanting to keep your Fit.

If the transmission will cost more than your Fit is worth I would sell / junk it.

Going to have to wait till Monday to take her in. Also noticed that the car will hesitate for a second or two to turn off. Its a push button so normally it turns off as soon as I push it. But the button will blink and then turn off. Turns on easily.

This sucks because I took my car to a shop to get a hub and bearing replaced and when I pick it up it's worse than before I dropped it off. So frustrating.

So let me follow up on the original post: after i went to the mechanic shop to get hub and bearing replaced, these lights came on. Mechanic said they checked all the sensors and the sensors are all working. Do any of these lights have to do with the car not running the same?

Definitely start looking at another vehicle or another transmission. I'm saying this as literally the last CVT I worked on was JUST starting to go out and after a fluid swap, she didn't last more than 30 miles. Everything was done to spec; this was a 2017 Nissan from auction however.

As far as the lights go, if they did front hub/bearing, I'd be pretty sure it was installed backwards (yes they are directional bearings) or the sensor wasn't removed before removal, hence damaging it. Rear hub assemblies require disconnect before removal so that shouldn't be an issue. There is a small chance that your transmission has a speed sensor and is finding discrepancies between that and the WSS causing a code to be thrown, but the AT and TC modules are seperate... Good luck.
