Arrow Steering Wheel Lock

I am a new Honda Fit owner. I bought a used 2017 EX with 78k mikes from a local dealer. The steering wheel doesn't lock with the ignition off. Is it supposed to?

A 2017 Fit with pushbutton start and MANUAL TRANS gets the electric steering column lock.

A 2017 Fit with pushbutton start and CVT trans has no column lock.

And the cars that use a conventional ignition key have a mechanical column lock.

Thank you for the in-depth reply. I find it annoying I have no steering column lock by design. Putting on my steering wheel cover was annoying. I wonder if there was a logistical reason Hinds didn't have one in the EX CVT.

Steering wheel locks were put in place to make it harder to steal a car without a key. I guess they figure it's not necessary when the lock is electronic.
