Adjustable steering does not lock well.
Adjustable steering does not lock well.
Hello all, noob, but I did search..
2008 Fit S with 5 speed. The adjustable steering wheel is locked in place but still moves (less that if it were unlocked).
I don't normally need to adjust it, but my 6'5" son drove the car last week, so I suspect he did adjust it. Regardless, the wheel is moving around even though the lever under the wheel is locked down.
This is not sloppy steering rack as far as I can tell as the car drives fine. Its not the steering wheel lock (when the key is removed).
Anyone else have this experience? I can't find any write ups, but perhaps I am searching the wrong keywords. Much appreciated.

Steering column assembly
Remove column cover and check the spring on the lever.
The upper column part is snapped into lower part and is fragile. You need to use body panel tool or sharp polished flat screwdriver to pull it up. The screws are attaching lower part only to the column
