Question about electric power steering

This is my first vehicle with electric power steering. ls it ok to hold the steering wheel all the way until it stops? l know you're not supposed to do that with traditional hydralic power steering.

yah, you can go lock to lock no issue. my wife does it all the time while parking in tight spots in the city.

A few seconds during typical parking maneuvers is not a problem.

Keeping a lot of pressure on the steering wheel while the rack is at full lock does force the electric steering motor to use a lot of electricity, you might notice the headlights dim a bit if you try it at night.

That's good to know. But l won't tell my wife because she may get into the habit of doing that with both cars.
