Oxygen sensor brands
Oxygen sensor brands
Hello, I have a 2015 Honda Fit that reports a OBD code P0141. I replaced the O2 sensor with a Walker brand vs. the original Denso that is $100 more. The continuity checks seem ok. I think it's my PCM. Has anyone out there used an off brand O2 sensor in their Honda?
that code wont leave you stranded....weird...maybe the resistance is not what the car expects, id get another o2 sensor before ripping the ecu apart...and check for any chafed wires...and give the connector a good clean/eyeball
it looks like the software is 70 dollars a year?
i didnt think swapping ecus was plug and play but NEVER done it....isnt the vin and the mileage in it?
maybe check you have heater circuit voltage ?

You are correct... ECUs are not plug and play. I will need to program it. I am looking at a Thinkdiag 2 engine programmer to do it myself or pay someone else to do it. It's over $200 if the dealer does it. I found a used one on ebay with the exact part number for less than $100. By the way, I did spend another $200 for the dealer to tell me something I already knew, they checked the voltage and determined it's either the sensor or the ECU.
Regarding sensor brands... I think the cheap Walker sensor would work fine. After I fix the car, I may install the $50 Walker sensor back into the car just to see if the $230 Denso sensor really makes a difference.
Follow up:
I bought the Thinkdiag 2 bidirectional OBD2 code reader. The software needs work, I had to rerun it a couple times to figure it out, but I was able to program the ECU, make another key, reset the tire pressure light, set the VIN so the radio works and pass emissions 😎 ... woohoo!🍻
