Alternator/ELD questions for 2015 Ex CVT Fit
Alternator/ELD questions for 2015 Ex CVT Fit
I have a 2015 EX CVT Fit with 120,000 miles.
Im having trouble figuring out if my alternator is going bad.
I used a trickle charger to get the battery to 12.9 V
Then started her up and with no lights or AC - the reading across the battery terminals was 14.2 Volts.
Then I turned on lights and AC, and the reading across the battery terminals dropped to 13.0
Is that enough to say the alternator is failing?
Im looking at buying a remanufactured alternator from various places and it looks like there are units rated for 120 Amps for Manul transmission Fits and units rated for only 105 Amps for CVT cars.
Can I use a manual (120 amp) alternator in a CVT car or should I just replace with the stock rated one?
Further googling led to some question about the ELD being bad - but I cant even determine if the 3rd gen Fits even HAVE an ELD nor where the heck it is.
Thanks in advance
Greg

I'm puzzled. It's not clear to me what problem you're having.
Anyway the car is far more likely to be having a battery problem than an alternator problem. Get a load test done on the battery - usually free at auto parts stores - you can't test a battery with a volt meter. Don't know if they also have a tester for the alternator.
