Getting ready to swap out headunit in my EX '20 -- Some questions
So I bought a new Joying android headunit to replace my factory 7" touch screen in my 2020 EX since they had some good prices for black friday ($380 for headunit including the front/rear cameras) and I've been unimpressed with the factory head unit -- the resolution is low, the screen is a bit too small for my liking, the reverse camera image quality is not very good, and it doesnt like my pixel 7 for android auto for some reason.
I'm hoping this new 9" joying unit will be what I want in an upgrade, but I want to make sure I spare myself any headache if I want to revert back to stock just in case. What do I need to do to ensure this radio reconnects with my car in the future? Is there a pairing code that I need to find or is it paired to the ecu? If the radio is disconnected for months or even years, when it gets reconnected will it just work, will it ask for something to authenticate somehow?
I'll report back on the install of this new one and how it is compared to the factory headunit.
Thanks!

i think it will automatically pair....there is a few threads on this, one just posted he swapped a completely different cars fit radio and no problem?, others have problems, ive disconnected the battery for days with no problem, same radio, same car, no problem
Figured I'd update, but after receiving the unit and playing around with a bit I decided it wasn't worth it based on the software experience, at least compared to the factory 7" infotainment on my 2020. I ended up returning the unit.
The hardware and specs were great, a proper snapdragon processor with 8gb of ram would be future proof for quite some time. The screen is really nice as well, the 1080p rearview camera picture quality is great.
My main concerns were with the software... you cant fully change the logo, so on cold boot it would be 1/2 Honda logo and 1/2 Joying bootup video - they offered to send me a custom firmware with the video removed, but I can't trust a one off firmware because if there was an issue down the line, I'd probably get no support.
Volume notification is a huge white square that stays up for a solid 5 seconds (even in dark mode), theres a bunch of typical chinglish misspellings, their launcher, aside from being able to have 6 on screen app shortcuts, offers no customizability -- cant rename the 'zlink' wireless android auto on the home screen for example, cant change the shortcut picture, etc. Many of these can probably be solved with a custom launcher, i even bought and tried one, or some intricate customizing, but in the end I know I would find frustrating.
To be clear this is compared to the factory 7" infotainment, if i had a base model or any older car with a basic radio, i would install one of these in a heartbeat.
The hardware is there, i wish there was an open-source android headunit project.
For now I ended up fixing the android auto issue on my phone.

yea...if your OK with factory (what i have)....backin the day i pushed 10"subs but too old now....you may want to consider an alpine/other upgrade in the future... but if stock all works id stick with it.....unless unsatisfied with volume...think you made a wise choice
