1. The plastic push pins are the only way to hold the cover on other than maybe with long ty-raps which you would have to cut off every time you want to remove the cover. The thing with those push pins is that they are not really intended for re-use. I just changed my oil and I installed new push pins as I do every time. They hold perfectly for me and have never failed.
2. Go to your local Honda parts department and get them to look up the part number for the screws. They should have them in stock. Buy extra.
They want a arm and a leg for them, to say nothing about the splashshield which they dont seem to carry anymore..
The screws are just standard machine sheet metal screws. I matched them up on Amazon and bought a bag. The plastic push pins are similarly available on Amazon. It did take a bit of time though to find the right things.
Third party versions of the splash shield I believe are available on eBay or maybe Amazon.
Does anyone know if there is an AFTERMARKET replacement for the "rear" (actually mi.d-body) under cover, NOT the one under the engine? The Honda part is too pricey for something that will likely get ripped off again. I suppose it's not exactly REQUIRED, but it would be nice to have something under there as a layer of protection for the exhaust pipe and brake lines.
If I read your profile correctly, you're in Florida like I am. My very excellent mechanic finally removed both pans after multiple failures. We really don't need them here.
I wonder why Honda didn't use regular metal screws there. It would have been so simple. A plastic screw in a plastic nut is asking for trouble. All four failed on my two Fits.
The plastic two in rear were gone second oil change. I been using zip ties in the back.
Been thinking it would be a little less cumbersome to drill two pilot holes in the cross rail and use those self threading sheet metal screws with washers.
Wonder if the FIT made overseas ever got an improvement there.

The 2021 Jazz was completely redesigned and is a hybrid now, sold in Japan and Europe. It is quite possible that they finally corrected the undercarriage problem but I guess we'll never know.

I use one of those metal "bolts" with a hole in the middle to insert a pin. Better than nothing, I guess. I have those plastic push pins, but I don't trust them.
I'm looking to replace the missing underbody splash shield for my 2015 LX Manual. I have not been able to find any used replacement parts unfortunately and this jobber shield was the best I could find. It looks like the underbody shield is riveted to the fender well covers, which sucks because the shield has to be removed for oil changes.
Can anyone offer some insight into how the underbody shield clips onto the car body? The exploded diagram I have found seems to indicate QTY 4 press through clips. Are there no screws in the bottom splash shield?
Just from memory: The front (front of the car that is) of the shield is held on with 5 or 6 small sheet metal screws. I bought a bag of them on Amazon years ago. Don't know the size.
The back of the shield is held on with 4 (I think) plastic push pins which snap into place. You can do a search on Amazon for "car push pins". These are the 10 mm size (which means they fit into a 10 mm hole). Bought a bag of those as well. Different sizes very commonly used on cars now to hold trim in place. And they should be replaced every time they are taken off for an oil change. Trouble is the oil change places often don't have spares and if they take the shield off for an oil change and lose one, well too bad for you. You can probably buy these from the dealer for $$$ each if you really have to.
Think that part is three pieces. Those side panels stay attached to the car. Only the big center needs to be removed.
A combination of sheet metal screws, (6) screw into those U clips that attach to the side panels. There two small plastic expand plugs that hold the rear of the shield to the rear frame cross frame.
The side panels attach with larger plastic expanding push pins.
Save yourself some time and headache by getting the correct fastners from the Honda dealer.
The screw have a gray anti rust coat and are bigger then most hardware stuff. Even the push pins are odd side.
Few years ago, I purchased a huge bag of different size plastic push pins on ebay.
There from the size of a pencil to your thumb. Grey, blue, black.. Some with fins, Some two part expanding you pop center plug back to release it, some with a screw to expand and rekease.
Nothing fit the Honda. Have a coffee can of sheet metal screws and nothing fit.
There is a reason for that madness. One of those odd ball push pin plastic fastners at the Subura dealer was $5.00.
Why i purchased 200 on ebay for $20. However nothings fits for my $20...
Note below attachment just for reference. Don't remember what the push pin looked like. Could be 10mm. Not sure. Maybe a 91514-TG1-T01
