2019 fuel pump recall
2019 fuel pump recall
We got the recall notice, but our local dealer put us on a list for replacement, claiming none existed. While on a road trip, the car stumbled, then died after stopping for a soda.
I tried restarting a few times without luck. Next, thinking it might be flooded, I tried holding the pedal down and starting. It tired to turn over but would not. Without holding the pedal down, it would not start, but would attempt.
All lights on the dash were on. Eventually, the battery died after many tries, and no lights came on for the dash. I did not hang on the starter, but did short attempts.
We got it towed to the closed Honda dealership (not the one we purchased the Fit from), and they claimed the battery was dead, and oh, by the way, we replaced the fuel pump under warranty.
I think the dealership took advantage of us, as the battery was not from 2019, but was a Honda battery from 2020 that my dealership replaced.
What would you suggest? My dealership only suggested calling the other dealership and trying to get reimbursed for our towing, Uber to Hertz, and Hertz rental car.
I have a call in to the other dealership and am awaiting a call back. Both dealerships are in the same state.
My last resort will be to contact Honda North America and/or our State Attorney General.
Thanks for your insights!
