CVT Problems, Anyone?

I keep hearing horrible things about CVT transmissions. We've put over 200,000 miles on three Fits with no CVT problems. Maybe Honda's version is better than the others.

Have any of you had CVT problems?

I would rate Toyota and Honda among the best with Nissan at the other end of the list with their truly horrible Jatco CVT transmissions. I believe that some of the domestic companies have also used Jatco as a supplier. At the top though Toyota is probably better than Honda because of their decision to build a separate low speed gear into their CVTs. Their cars start up in that low speed gear before switching to the CVT as it picks up speed. Since wear and tear on the CVT is greatest at startup**, Toyota avoids that problem almost entirely.

**And yeah, people should really take it easy on the gas pedal when initially starting to move the car. Well, everyone other than Toyota owners.

I find that my Fit sarts up very quickly from a red light, even in Econ mode. I have to make a conscious effort to make slow starts.

2017 LX. Never had a problem. But, most of my driving is in open highway, about 2200 rpm, rarely over 3000 rpm. ODO is 173K miles. CVT fluid changed at 50K, 100K, and 173K.The fluid smells really bad.

This is what I got back after I ahd the check engine light, the traction control light, and the tier pressure light all come on at once and it acted like it was in neutral...
80k on this transmission, 159k on the odometer...
the manual I had said change transmission fluid every 100k, but I keep seeing elsewhere recommendations to do it every 30k.
Guess I screwed myself out of a car...Wish the mechanic had said something about having the transmission serviced more often than it lists, to try to avoid it next time.
$6500 for a new transmission parts and labor, and that's AFTER getting an engine replacement and the catalytic converter replaced.
