Clutch safety switch/interlock/whatever they call it?

OK, so, am having an intermittent starting problem ('15 LX manual"}. Had it checked at a few places, battery/alternator/starter check out fine. When it starts, it starts perfectly normally cranks fine, fires up immediately. It really seems to me that it's the stupid clutch safety switch, seems if I kick the clutch pedal and turn the key at JUST the right time, fires right up...other times it takes several tries. The part is pretty cheap and fairly easy to get to, am wondering if you folks think I might be on the right track, or just wasting $$$ and time. m thinking am gonna do it, and if it's NOT the switch, then I'll have a backup...or are y'all gonna say it's the starter? I feel the switch is the culprit, but won't get around to it until I get done rehabbing my damn broken hip!!!Getting old is not for wimps Thoughts? Has anyone had to replace theirs? Thanks for any thoughts/advice

I have the same car 2015 LX MT. My starter went out at 6 years, 67k miles. It started out once in a while, but over the course of a few months, it got progressively worse to start... i.e. happening more frequently with more attempts and to the point it may never start again. I should have been reading this forum, since it's a common issue (as you may know) at least on earlier GKs. I don't know if it actually helped or was coincidence, but I started pumping the clutch pedal before pressing it fully to get it to start until that stopped working. Then I started pushing in the key when turning it till that stopped working. In hindsight maybe I should have tried pushing the front fender up and down a couple of times or tapping the starter with a wrench or screwdriver head since it seemed like a short somewhere. I thought about the interlock switch, but just felt it was the starter and changed it out and problem solved.

I don't know and I don't want to lead you astray, just stating what happened to my car.

Also, I understand you had it tested, but I don't know if it was starting fine at that time?

I always find a real alternator/starter shop not the auto parts stores Autozones tester is lame it doesn't measure the exact current and torque like a rebuilder shop can do.
One bit to consider, if the battery gets low and you repeatedly keep starting it ruins the stator in the starter due to overheating and then it just dies eventually.
In most cars the brake/clutch safety switch is closed to allow start, so you can jumper it and see if that solves the issue. I've had enough of them fail over the years I'd test it ..
