As I was driving this morning, making multiple stops, I saw a new warning light appear on the dash. I looked it up when I got home. It's for the Immobilizer System. I came on twice and stayed on for a few miles. Like other warning lights, it's supposed to turn off shortly after the engine is started.

 

Replace the battery in your key?

 

Your starter button might be going out. It's been happening to mine lately. The car starts up everything, but the light stays on the whole time. When it gets warmer I'm going to try to replace it myself.

I get a different message for a low battery. If this continues, I won't be able to start the car.

 

Does your second key have the same problem?

 

Right now, my second key is hiding from me. The auto industry is screwed up. $350 for a car key? I should be able to disconnect the Immobilizer.

Here's some total nonsense. I don't have an ignition switch. -
