Transmissions

I'm considering buy a fit and my main concern is the cvt. I've been lurking this forum for a while and don't see a ton of failures. Is it fair to say the cvt in the fit is pretty reliable?

Honda CVT is not the worst one in the market, but obviously a manual would be more reliable.

The CVT is my first non manual transmission car. I have never encountered any problems with the CVT since new in Nov 2016. However, the CVT has not seen a heavy load so it has been reliable so far. The trans fuild was changed twice so far, about $108/change. One time at the dealer and one time with a local mechanic. The ODO is 158K miles.

the first GK Fit i test drove had a CVT . the car was kind of noisy , i thought it was just the nature of the Fit's being this big empty box of a car . i wasn't impressed at all . about a year later i drove one with a 6 speed , it was like a different car , very quiet . that's the one i bought . the CVT in the Fit i guess is similar to the one in the HRV which is also kind of noisy . if you pay more , you get a better one
as in the CRV , which hardly feels like a CVT . a CVT is just a friction drive , and i still think the jury is out on these things . if they made a Fit with an auto i probably would have considered it , but i'm
happy with the stick , my last 5 cars were manuals
