Proper Antifreeze for 2020 Honda Fit EX

I am purchasing a used 2020 Honda Fit EX tomorrow from a GM dealer. Prior to going through their service dept. inspection I was able to see the vehicle as just received as a trade in. One thing that caught my eye was that the antifreeze appeared to be red. I know that normally Honda antifreeze is blue. I would like to know if anyone else has seen or used the red antifreeze in a Honda. Thanks.

Should only be blue. Someone probably jammed Toyota coolant in there and saw "Asian" on the bottle and said good enough. Check compatibility and perform accordingly.

Get them to flush the system out and replace the fluid with genuine Honda coolant.

Yeah, I prefer to play it safe and use the Honda coolant - available on Amazon. They have it by the gallon now, so it's cheaper than buying quarts.

Still, it's already mixed for $32. If it was the mix-it-yourself kind, it would be $16 a gallon. They're charging us $16 for two quarts of water. 🤣

Amazon had Honda coolant when I made the post above - $32/gal. Now, all they have are Honda quarts, with the lowest price being 2 for $26. That's $52/gal. I can buy name brand gallons for 1/3 of that. Hey, it's antifreeze, not a magic portion. Is the Honda engine made from material mined in a distant galaxy?

"For most recent Honda Fit models, the antifreeze color is blue, but it is essential to check your specific owner's manual to confirm the correct type and color, especially if your vehicle currently contains a different color of coolant. Honda recommends its "Honda Type 2" blue coolant, which is an extended-life, Asian-vehicle-specific coolant, but you can use an equivalent like Prestone Asian Blue if needed. Mixing coolant types can lead to damage, so a full system flush is advised if switching from an older, different-colored coolant to the blue type."

Prestone Asian Blue - $96 for six gallons. They can't sell just one?

Amazon.com: Prestone AF6310 MAX Asian Vehicles Blue Antifreeze and Coolant, 1 Gallon, Pack of 6 : Automotive Amazon.com: Prestone AF6310 MAX Asian Vehicles Blue Antifreeze and Coolant, 1 Gallon, Pack of 6 : Automotive

$18.99 - Prestone MAX Original Equipment Antifreeze + Coolant: Asian Blue, 50/50 Ready-to Use, 1 Gallon AF6310 - Advance Auto Parts

The 2020 Fit takes 1.11 gallons. So, I would buy two gallons to get that .11 additional. Fantastic planning, Honda! Of course, if there is a bit remaining after draining the system, I would need just .999 gallons.

I'm getting two gallons from Advance (for a 2015 and a 2020).

@SilverEX15 It's hard to argue with you. I'm seeing the price of everything go up in California and throughout the country. It's hard to imagine where all this is going.

I paid that in 2017. Looking online, I can't find a price from a Honda dealer. I'm getting two gallons from Advance Auto.

I saw that an online dealer has an oil drain plug on sale for $15.00. What a bargain! 🤣
