Keyless Start System Problem warning
Keyless Start System Problem warning
I recently started getting the "Keyless Start System Problem" warning on my dash. My proximity lock/unlock no longer works. I have no issues starting the car with a single push of the start/stop button and can lock/unlock with the fob buttons. Does this still point to the ignition button being the problem and needing replaced? This is for a '18 EX manual.
Torque shows no codes.
Happens with both fobs, not just one. Plus I've seen the separate low battery warning in the past, this is not it.

Can you point me to where you see this? Everything I see points to the start/stop button.
I searched the web for "keyless start system problem honda". Read through some posts on forums for other vehicles, some reddit posts.
... Which contains one of the LF (low frequency) antennas for the keyless access system. The 2019 wiring diagrams also shows LF antennas in each front outer door handle - I suspect these are near-field/RFID type antennas that require the keyfob be held within a few feet (maybe a few inches?) of the antenna. There's also three antennas listed that are not marked as LF - under the center of the dash, center front of the luggage compartment floor, and centered behind the rear bumper cover. I think those three are responsible for medium-range range detection of the keyfob. The keyless access unit (near the gauge cluster) might have its own built-in antenna for the long-range keyfob button functions, or the existing antennas might do it.

I'll have to give that a shot. I tried two generic buttons from Amazon (initially I purchased the wrong version and the second I couldn't get the pins aligned in the connection) as a cheap alternative before buying OEM. So I'm pretty versed in taking it apart now.
Do you have NHTSA recall info? I have not received any notices. I had the car in for fuel pump recall at the dealer and the warning was on the dash but they didn't offer any solutions.
Go To Your Local Honda Dealer.
It was a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin), not a recall and it has since expired.
