2016 Honda Fit Rear Jack Placement
2016 Honda Fit Rear Jack Placement
I want to lift the rear end up on my 2016 Honda fit so I can place jack stands under the left and right side re-enforced frame. Getting ready to replace the rear drum shoes. Apparently some Honda's have a re-enforced frame near the back, but my Honda Fit does not.
So, some people suggest lifting it by the metal tow hook while others seem to state not to do that. Still others seem to suggest there is a metal cone type place to lift the back or another plate. I've looked pretty good and could find neither.
Does anyone have the same model, 2016 Honda Fit EX and know if and where it can be raised? I know even model's by year can change a simple feature.

Tow hook should be okay as long as the front two wheels are on the ground and you are working on a level surface. (Although every time I write that, I wish I had a clear confirmation from Honda that it was a proper lift point.)
I recall very clearly using the tow hook as a jacking point on my GD. Since then, I've been using a four-point lift in a shop.

for us plebeians still rolling around in the dirt using jack stands, I can confirm I have also frequently jacked up my GD and GK from the tow hook.
as far as safety, before (and after) you get the jack stands under the pinch welds, please do the following:
-put the car in gear if MT or in park for AT. I put my car in reverse (MT) but any gear is probably fine. The jack will definitely want to roll forwards while you jack the car up so make sure your jack can roll around on its wheels and isn’t stuck in a crack.
-put wheel chocks in front of the front wheels. If you have em, you could consider chocking both sides of the wheels for added safety. I usually just choc one wheel but do as I say, not as I do
stay safe and have fun wrenchin’

I have spent my entire life "rolling around in the dirt." It was dumb luck that I found yourdreamgarage, and when this guy goes belly up, I'll be back on my back.
It's over for me. I'm tired of trying to find a solution. Next stop for me is to buy a house and install a lift. Period.
