205/50/15

just curious, anyone try running 205/50/15s on the GK? . i know they are 3mm shorter (roughly 3/32") than the 195/55/15s that i use. i've got 7" rims on the car.

The stock tire for stock 15" rim is 185/60R15.
205/50R15 is too small (2.8% smaller circumference).
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?whe...cl=50mm&sr=0mm

And the stock 15" configuration on LX trim is already on the small side, compared to the stock 16" configurations on EX and Sport trims.
205/50R16 would be a lot closer to the "normal' for GK.

195/55R15 you say you're using now is also too small, compared to the stock configurations.

i knew the 195/55 swap was fine, but i had to look it up. yes, it's well within the 3% rule on changing tire diameters. also according to the 3% rule a 205/50 would still be within that range. of course
there's different schools of thought on the matter. i know tire rack would not even recommend the 195/55s, been there. when i order from tire rack i shop by tire not vehicle.

can you just swap the stock 16” on to an lx, or do you need to add spacers?

i do know that Tire Rack won't recommend it, ( years ago they were fine with it though) , but i've been using the 195/55/15s for a couple of years now, they're fine, very close to stock.
my original question in this thread was about bumping up another size to a 205/50/15. according to a 3% size difference formula the 205 would still be acceptable.
i just wanted to know if anyone else had tried this. i'd rather not go to a 16" rim. also not sure how much the wider 205 would effect mpg which right now is 34.5 mixed driving
