Not every purchase has to be the most practical option. I just like new cars. I earn enough to afford the "luxury" of a new car. I could afford a more expensive car also but choose not to do that. Everybody deserves a little spoiling and for me it's buying a new car

Not to mention the Fit is one the best value-retaining cars around. I've had my Fit for going on five years now and it's depreciated less than half it's value. Even less so if I chose to sell it privately.

Haven't had to deal with the hassle of repairs, breakdowns, etc that are more likely with buying a 7-10 year-old used car. That cost time and money. My new Fit hasn't cost me a thing beyond oil, tires, and fuel for the last five years. I'd gladly pay more for new to retain that ease of mind and enjoy the extended longevity of the vehicle.

Now, if you trade up cars every couple years, you may not be coming out on top as much as someone that keeps their cars much longer.

I'm fine with that. I make bad decisions all the time, but I realize they're bad decisions. Anyone who thinks buying a new car is a good financial decision is simply not smart and I'm sorry if that offends anyone.

I can agree that a new car is not a good financial decision since it loses a big chunk of value when you drive it off the lot. My brain knows this but there's just something about that new car smell...

I kinda wanna get back on topic because this thread sparked interest. But what other rates are u guys getting?

I checked GEICO and their online quote rate was $614 vs Progressives $670 for six months. GEICO was with $500 deductible while Progressive was with $1000. Body injury and et al the same. Not sure if that sounds right to you guys but I expected lower for my age (32) and clean driving record. Must be my zip?

Well there's a lot more variation than zip and deductible. Depends on the level and types of coverage you are getting. And is that just for 1 person, 1 vehicle??

Yeah it seems like all this waiting is getting the better of some people...

I wouldn't really go by the online, like in my quotes were cheaper than my actual. Better just to talk on the phone with someone, you still get bugged via email or phone either way. At least if you say "I DONT WANT THIS" they can take you off their call list lol.

If you own a home or have renters insurance they should be able to bundle for you.

Repeat after me, buying a new car is not an investment, neither is my apartment, my Apple products, or the plants on my back deck. It is transportation. I like new cars and will continue to buy them.

Yea i was trying to find a quote for one person one vehicle. I tried other zips and found maybe a $20-30 deviation. I'm just curious how some of you guys are paying close to $280 for six months on a fiesta and the quotes I'm getting are just about $200 shy from what I pay for six months on a 2011 Forrester.

I mean my 21 mi one way commute isn't that bad compared to some of you. Plus I already used my occupation degree etc etc for the "discounts". I'm a little wary of calling cuz Allstate kept calling back despite declining them
