Lol its a 270hp drop from my Supra. What's the point of all that power if you only need 20hp to get to work?

Well I figured this was the time to actually register and stop lurking all the time.

I have finally joined the club, I will be taking ownership of a silver 2015 LX once it gets here on the next car carrier. Went with the CVT, I was tempted to try a manual but decided against it, this car is more of an appliance/tool to me than a fun toy, not that there's anything wrong with wanting a car that's more fun.

My vehicle history is a mix. In 2002ish, my first car, a POS 1994 Plymouth Acclaim (dear God that was an awful car as I live and breathe) died when, get this, the engine block cracked. It had, get this, 44,000 miles on it.

I got a brand new 2003 Silverado, regular cab with the 4.3L V6, and until just a few days ago (in 2014), I had it. I will actually miss it, but it was time to trade it in. It's reached a point where it's not as reliable as it used to be as random things start wearing out due to age. I'm overall very satisfied with it, but to tell the truth I should have traded out of it by now because it's not been a practical vehicle for my personal needs for the last 3 years or so.

I still feel like I got my money out of it though, and I used it to move a bunch of times, so it was fun while it lasted I suppose. I would have kept it but I'm working in a city now and I have limited parking available to me. I'd have given it to my brother but he just bought a 2007 Silverado.

Anyway silly as it sounds, I will miss that '03, we went through a lot of bad things together in all that time.

I had wanted to keep the truck another year but I've had to miss 2 days of work this year due to problems with it (Most recently, on Memorial day weekend it broke down in Nowhere, Texas, turns out the crankshaft sensor was completely corroded to the point it was just bare wire. Stranded me out of town for days due to the holiday.)

It's also going to need a new tranny, it's inevitable. I've already done the rear intake manifold rebuild on that truck, so that will save its next owner a nice chunk of change. You're welcome, whoever you are.

Point is it was getting to the point where the repair costs were too close to the KBB of the vehicle for my liking. I know it doesn't strictly make financial sense but I can't bring myself to pay $4000 to keep a $4000 vehicle running.

So I traded it in while it was still running and had some life left in it for someone with time to fuss with it.

But this is a new era, I went out and got me one of them good deals I hear about. Took a couple of pictures to remember it by just for giggles.

My budget was limited though not as limited as some people's, but I figure I should have this thing paid off in 19 months and I plan to keep it at least as long as I had the truck, so I reckon it'll work out all right. It's going to recoup a lot of its cost because my gas mileage just literally more than doubled. It did not quite triple (I got really good performance out of my truck with careful driving, plus the V6 instead of the V8 helped) but danged if it ain't close. I also won't be paying the "pickup premium" for cost of ownership and maintenance.

I've liked the Fit a lot ever since it came out and I thought one day back in 2009 or maybe 2010 that if I ever wanted to get into a car again I'd probably get me one of those dorky looking wedge shaped cars. It's not a "fun" car per se but it's just too darn practical.

I also really wanted to maintain some aspects of having a pickup truck, and the Fit scratches that itch really well. It's not going to be the same but I feel like it has about 70% of the utility of the truck and will handle the common things I used the bed of the truck for.

I gave the other brands fair consideration but I just kept coming back to the Fit. It was literally the most expensive car I could afford but it was a better value compared to the others. I got a lot of the information just lurking here.

Almost went used, but I put about 30 or so Used Fits into a spreadsheet and just decided it was worth it to me to just buy it new. I think on paper the smart thing to do is buy one used with about 2-3 years of depreciation and reasonable mileage on it, but it's hard in reality to find that car right now, at least at a price that's fair. Used car market in my area is really tight right now especially for econoboxes.

I figure new is all right if you intended to drive it a good while. I hope after I get it paid off, I can save for 5 more years and have enough to just buy a new car with cash next time, but we'll see.

I think I'm going to enjoy it though, I've been wanting to go see some places via roadtrip that I just couldn't have really done affordably in my truck, and I've done some other research here and there and seen people road trip in their Fits very comfortably, using them as free hotel rooms XD.

I'm realizing other benefits too. They let me have a Civic while we wait for the Fit to come in and I tell you what, while I miss the more upright stance and RWD feel of the truck, it is a hell of a lot easier to zip around town in that car. I feel like I've been driving on hard mode.

I know they say the 2015 isn't as good as the old ones, and I guess that may be true, but I test drove that thing like I stole it, taking sharp turnarounds at 55 mph and merging into busy highways and whatnot, it did just fine and that's about as crazy as my daily driving usually gets.

I think it's because my point of reference is a decade of driving a pickup truck so any decent car probably feels fast and zippy to me; indeed I've forgotten the advantages of driving a car. But I'm not out to win races so it'll work for my purposes, even though FWD will take some getting used to.

Anyway I've gone on and on. It's my third car, my first Honda, my first Fit, etc. It's like a little Swiss Army Knife of a car, it's not the best at any particular role but the overall thing is just so dang handy.

To the OP: This will be my first fit. I was going to purchase the 13 model last year, but decided on a 2013 civic. I'm so glad I passed up on it because after seeing these new ones I would have threw a fit if I purchased the 13's lol

This is my first Fit, I think I picked a good model to start with. I also own a 95 Acura Integra GSR Sedan. I have owned SEVERAL Honda/Acura models though as well as run a local Honda enthusiast forum.

That blue is absolutely stunning!!! That would for sure be the color I'd get most likely in an EX!

I am going to get my first Fit, a 2015 EX in Blue. I'm thinking by end of year, but not 100% sure. Depends on finances.

Oh tell me about it. I actually understand why so many people drive SUVs and spend way too much for the privilege of doing so. That truck stance just spoils you rotten.

I prepared by renting a Corolla for a few days when I was getting some repairs done on the truck just to see if I could live with a regular car, and I discovered once I stopped thinking about the differences so much, it was actually not so bad and it actually had some advantages I had forgotten about.

Hopefully it gets here soon. The EX and EX-L are nice but I have a budget, just like everyone else does. My budget just happens to be more than some people's and less than others!

It will be when I get one. Still waiting for a white LX to arrive on dealer lots in my area. Looking forward to an economical yet fun car for my daily errands and chores. Maybe this will beta down my 370z mod bug too, haha.

I currently own a 05' Civic and hopefully next month or so I'll be getting the White EX! The blue up there looks pretty nice but my heart is set on the white. I thought about getting a black car again, but I think it's time for me try a new color! I haven't seen any white ones out on the road yet. I emailed one dealer asking about it last week but still no reply. -___-" But yeah, can't wait for my first FIT!

They were told by corporate that the only blue Fits in production were for industry shows and corporate sponsors. I'm jealous of that blue. I purchased and silver one and plan to add blue to it. This is my first Fit and my first Honda.

And this is why people hate car salespeople. They lie like rugs to make a sale.

I've noticed there are several. Apparently the dealer was either misinformed or did not tell the whole truth to get me to buy what they had on the lot. I was upset at first, but now I'm okay. I'll customize mine and give it some personality.
