I don't know if this is a promotion or what, but two of my local dealers are offering lifetime warranty aside from Honda's 5 year 60k warranty on all new cars at their dealer. Is this going on around the country or is it just exclusive to selected dealers in North CA? Other dealers are charging anywhere from a $1000 to $1800 for their extended warranty. Until they claim its a "wear item" and deny it.

 

Pretty standard practice. Not many people will ever need it due to most people getting rid of their cars before the engine or transmission would "fit" the warranty's conditions.
It's mostly a marketing gimmick.
Lancaster toyota offers this too.

 

Scott Robinson Honda down here in Torrance, CA advertises that as well.

 

Iv notice some dealers promoting 5 years bumper to bumper.

Yet you'll notice it tagged on the "dealer installed" options sheet next to the window sticker.

 

Extended Warranty = Scam
