CVT Sport Mode ? Lock gears when shifted.

Sorry if this has already been answered in another thread but can the gear that you kick down to with the paddle shifter be locked into place by selecting sport mode, believe this is available on the civics ?
Live in a very hilly place and need to be sure of being able to use effective engine braking when going down hills, i.e. I dont want the transmission to shift up when it thinks it is ok to do so..

Well, the CVT isn't really shifting at all. It has only one gear. It will digitally select everything automatically. Drove my Prius C with CVT up a 14,000 ft. mountain last weekend, so I would say it was hilly, and it performed beautifully! And it's only 99 HP combined with the 2 engines. Didn't use the paddle shifters and everything was great.

In sport mode with the CVT, if you hit either of the paddles, it will lock the gear UNLESS you get within 500-750 RPMS of redline, at which point it will intervene and "upshift" for you.

This is quite unlike my old GD3 which would let you bounce off the rev limiter all day lol.

Are you sure about 14,000? I thought Mt. Whitney in California at 13,XXX is the tallest peak in the lower 49 states. Just want to clarify.
