Well I Almost Had A New Fit :(
So I have been going back and forth emailing a guy in internet sales at a local dealer. I get an email from him first thing in the morning saying that he has good news and to call him right away. Call him up and he says that he got me a 2015 Fit EX CVT for my asking price. He said he was able to give me the friends and family discount. I was so excited that I finally I got my Fit, at least that's what I though. As I was standing in line at the bank to get my cashiers check he gives me another call and says that there was a mistake and he quoted me the wrong price plus there were additional fees. He then told me the new price which was exactly $1000 above the price we agreed on earlier. Talk about a huge letdown. Looks like no new Fit for me.

Unfortunate but it happens to us more often than we think. Have figured them out by giving them a dose of their own medicine. Hit them when they least expect it.
All dealers, will gladly sell most of their inventory at MSRP. Only when a model is new, do they have a short window of opportunity to charge Full MSRP plus dealer baloney add-ons.
Its before the model actually arrives, IMO, is the best time to present to them your willingness to pay ONLY FULL Mfg'r published MSRP and freight, but dictate and eliminate their eventual greediness to tack on misc. charges. Dealership staff are unknowing of any vehicle details including MSRP at that point. Only the Manager will be willing to listen, especially if the buyer is willing to place a non-refundable deposit based on the aforementioned criterea.
The GK is the second newly redesigned/introduced auto I've done this with. The first was my '07 FJ which I took delivery in March, '06 and placed my order on Dec. '05.
That said, I would complain to the salesman's manager about how you were treated. You have nothing to lose and something to gain by doing this. Your next step would be to go to the other 2 Oahu dealers and am sure one of them will listen.
Good luck and don't give up hope. Before you know it, you'll be driving a GK and the thoughts of dealing with salespeople who "speak with forked tongues" will be history!!!

1k difference is huge for a fit. I don't know what the mark up is on the '15 but it was only $150 on my '13. I bet there is more mark up on the Mexican built car than Japanese one's because it's cheaper to produce. Maybe by a '13 sport left in your area. They'll be easier to deal if you even like that model.
