Is this why our Fits were delayed so long?

Apparently there was 175,000 Fits and Vezels recalled in Japan because of an engine control program flaw. "The carmaker received 11 reports of accidents from December to April related to the engine-control program." I know our Fits are built out of Mexico but do we share these similarities with our Japanese counterpart?

So, I'm guessing there is no cable between the accelerator and the engine in the new Fit. Are most cars all electronic in this regard now? *sigh*

Its for the hybrids, I'm assuming it would be a different system altogether.
