A slight minute hesitation on the cvt model between takeoff and about 10 mph. It recovers quickly but I swear it feels like a hesitation. Perhaps it is related to the gear ratio and bogged a bit at takeoff.

It's strange that you say that because I've noticed the same thing on my Manual Transmission sometimes. When I'm in 2nd gear and slowly accelerating, it feels like a millisecond hesitation.

Well at least we both know we're not totally insane!

Yes, I've noticed this, but I thought it was just me being hypercritical of the car being pokey

More troubling was what happened yesterday. I was waiting to make a left turn, and when the time came I mashed the accelerator. It lurched, then it really gunned. It FELT like a going-bad turbo. Obviously that's not what happened. I was on a hill, so maybe it was a flukey hill assist thing (is hill assist on the CVT? I know it's on the manual), since I was on an incline? If it happens again, I'll start trying to recreate and diagnose.

I had a similar experience and thought it was just me but I had accelerated and it was like it sort of slipped then jerked. Only has happened once for sure. Obviously the more you drive a car the more you know what is normal for it.
I was curious if the hesitation is a related issue to Direct Injection since I had it with my CVT and Italianese87 had it with his manual.

This is normal on CVT transmissions. The transmission is searching for the correct belt ratio, which causes the slight delay. Feels like a slipping clutch.

For me, it's only when I slowly accelerate in 2nd gear that I feel a slight loss of power. I never notice it in the other gears or when I give it more gas in 2nd. I think it's just because I have a tiny engine that needs more throttle. So I have assumed everything is okay.
