Need Advice

My Honda Dealer called and said they have a red EX on the lot and they are willing to put leather seats and heated seats in the car and and bring the price down from an EX-L from 20,590 to 20,024..what's going on here..is this a fantastic deal or is it dumb...There is leather on the doors right? What do you make of this?

Sounds fishy. They will take a lower trim model, do substantial work in switching out the seats from a higher trim model, and then take $500 of the price? I'm not saying they WON'T do that, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Does that mean they are just saving you $400 on heated mirrors?

If this is the case, let me know because I would LOVE heated seats. The only reason I don't wont the EX-L is the CVT, but man... heated seats would be most welcome in my car.

The doors and dashboard in my EX-L are all plastic. Hard plastic. My left elbow is not a fan of resting on the not-at-all-soft left door but its the only place to rest an elbow with our armrestless Fits.

Sounds super fishy. So they are going to take apart the center console and wire in the heated seat switches too? Retrofitting a significant portion of the interior sounds like a huge hassle for the dealer and makes no sense at all.

Why not pay $400 more for heat mirrors (safety benefit), mirror integrated turn signals (safety benefit) and leather trimmed wheel and shifter? That seems like a better deal to me.

The doors in all models are hard plastic but there is an insert of leather in the doors where the lower trims have the patterned seat fabric. And yes, this sounds fishy. Are they offering lifetime warranties? I would be concerned about quality.

Run away! This definitely sounds like a smoke and mirrors scam.

I wonder if the retrofit would void the warranty. What if the heated seats broke and you took it to a different Honda dealer? They might say retrofitted heated seats are an after market mod and not covered.

I got tired of waiting for my EX-L so I called every Honda dealer within a 150 mile radius until I found my blue EX-L.

Why are they willing to include so much for free? Why is their Fit not selling? They literally need to install leather seats in it in order to sell it? Every 2015 Fit that hits the lot is gone within days. These are my questions and why what they are offering you is raising everyone's red flag!

Maybe they did all that work already for someone else who couldn't get a loan approved and now they're stuck with the car.

Get it if it makes you happy. It does seem odd though.

I've seen dealers that get stock seats recovered in leather (add heat too) and advertise it as "custom leather interior"... Safe to say that a dealer added item like that is probably ONLY warranties by *that* dealer... I mean why would another dealer address something that is basically aftermarket?

You know Sas, if it is the color you like and. Leather seats are your preference seems to me like its a decent deal. I would ask them about the warranty on the seats and heaters but honestly i would not shy away from it. What are the chances something will go wrong? You are getting a few other things thrown in to boot. Good luck in your decision

I really wouldn't want a car the dealer has been hacking on. Remember, there is also the heated seat circuitry and switching. I'll bet that none of this stuff is factory issue!
