Lx mpg

Hello all!

First post here, looking forward to purchasing my 2015 fit LX. I will most likely make the purchase within the next month or so...

I chose the LX for the extra MPG, I drive over 50,000 miles per year for work so I need a vehicle that gets amazing mpg. I currently drive 92 Honda Civic VX 5 spd. I just went over 300k on it, and I average around 50 mpg per tank.

So, I have browsed the mpg threads on this site, and fuelly, and I see allot of varied real world mpg numbers for the LX? Some report averages of 42+ , yet some state low 30's? My driving will be approximately 75% highway 25% city.

I just don't want to purchase the Fit, and be let down by poor mileage... Can any LX owners weigh in and ease my worries? Thanks!

I Use Eco mode in town when going more than a few miles after the AC has cooled down the interior.

On my last tank doing 100% city driving in San Francisco, half in evening right after rush hour, 2nd half early morning before rush hour, had 30/31 mpg but I was hard on the gas at times and switch to S or L gear to break in the engine, never using ECO mode - hardly efficient driving. Just filled up and am at 40 miles stabilizing at 34 mpg with conservative driving this time without ECO mode, but still gassing it at least once per drive just because it's fun, heh.

If doing 75% highway, I've no doubt I'll fly past 40 mpg.

92 civic vx is nearly 600 lbs lighter then the GK fit with lower hp and lower CG. you will never get the same mileage with the fit as the vx driven the same way. 92-95 civic was the best honda ever produced, but i digress...

i too, pack on the mileage. between my commute and work, i do 70k a year. mpg depends on how you drive. terrain matters as well. if you are going 80mph keeping up with traffic on the interstate, you will not get in the 40's.

wifey has a 98% highway commute. some hills, not too bad. she goes 65~70mph with a light foot. she drove the fit (ex) this past week and filled up last night. she got 38.9 mpg calculated by miles/galons pumped.

my commute is the other directon. more hills and some backroads mixed in. i am more aggressive on the throttle. last check i was doing 34 mpg calculated.

The 95 Civic was good, but my favorite was the 89 Civic hatchback. Now THAT was a fun Honda! and 44 mpg, not driving easy, either.

LX manual. In Phoenix, in town with A/C on: 34-37 depending on whether I goose it. On the highway, 75 mph, 39 to 44, depending on the terrain. Phoenix to LA, 44mpg.

I'm presently averaging (LX CVT) 38.9 mpg which is about 50/50 city/hwy (with Eco off). I wanted to do a comparision first with Eco off, and then with Eco on. However, I have less than 300 miles on my Fit so I'm thinking/wondering if that number will go even higher after it's all broken in. Loving my 2015 Fit! It's EXACTLY the car for which I had been searching.

My EX mt is getting between 38 and 43 average per tank full. I am shifting well below 4k rpm and only have 800 miles on the odometer. The green/blue economy light does help with getting better mpg's.
