Plastic Protection for Hood and Bumper
Plastic Protection for Hood and Bumper
Does anyone know of a 3M sheet that is large enough to cover the hood of the Fit? I'd like to cover the front bumper, too. I'd rather not have to put on individual pieces and have seams.
There you go silver
NoChip 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film — FIT 2015+ HONDA 3M
its pricey. =T
The company has the printouts for the 15 Fit, so their 3M stuff is already pre-cut to fit exactly onto our bumpers, fenders, headlight, mirrors, etc. It's just really pricey though at the end of the day it's almost about the same as taking the car to a shop to get it done but still cheaper than paying the labor.

For $69, you get the Basic Kit, which is only 8.8" X 50". That's higher than I've seen anywhere else. I'll keep looking.
If the mirrors get little chips, it's no big deal to use touch-up paint.
Yeah, $784 is a bit much. Now if it prevented damage from a collision, that might be worth it.

I ended up going to auto zone and buying two cans of 3M paint defender spray. Then home depot for some carpenters tape and a roll of painters paper.
Took about 25 minutes to drape some areas, mask, and tape places I didn't want the spray to adhere to. About 5-10 minutes to lightly wax and buff the areas I was about to spray on. And about 10 minutes to spray everything on.
After about four hours letting it dry, it wasn't too bad. I ended up using about 1.5 cans and got the hood, front bumper, a little bit of the side fender, and side mirrors covered. Since the Fit's hood is so short, it didn't take much of the spray.
I've had it for about a week and no chips. A simple wipe off makes it look glossy again. Only thing that pissed me off was how cheap Honda's paint was on the hood. The home depot masking tape rolled a bit down my hood and of ALL things the rolls of tape was able to make a scratch on the clear coat. That scratch is covered under the paint defender spray now of course, and I'm amazes its difficult to notice underneath the 3M coating.

I think I'm going to remove the front bumper and bring it into the house to do the plastic. The bumper and plastic will be warm, and I can take my time without lying down in the driveway. Unfortunately, I'll have to have seems in places. I'll add a pair of loud FIAMM horns at the same time.
