Climate system fluctuations

I have a 6mt and i noticed that when taking the car out of gear to neutral and coming to a stop, the fan blower actually dips down in speed and then speeds back to up normal. This usually happens when rolling to a stop or once i come to a complete stop. The car is idling normally before this happens. Anyone ever notice this?

I don't have the manual but under the conditions you are mentioning I would guess it is simply the voltage in the system dropping when you take your foot off the gas. When I was using the Ultragage to tracking charging I had seen voltage under acceleration as high as 14.35v and as low as 12.5. 2 volts is pretty significant voltage difference to a motor if it does not have regulation. The fan may or may not but this is my thoughts.

I think what you are hearing is probably normal.

It is perfectly normal, assuming it's not a huge dip—the electrical system isn't designed to maintain an absolutely stable voltage all the time, but instead to keep it within tolerable limits and keep the battery sufficiently charged to start the engine. The fan speed is a function of voltage. (You might also notice that lights dim a bit at the same time, for the same reason.)

If the speed dips waaay down, you might have a bad connection to the battery or a bad battery—but you'd probably also experience other electrical problems, like the car not cranking well.

I mentioned this issue in the GK quality issue thread. In my experience with my CVT fit however, the fan speed seems to get higher when slowing down and coming to a stop. Then it gets back to normal when accelerating from the stop. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around assuming voltage fluctuations.

Hi Andrewi56,

Sorry to hear about your concern. This may be a normal characteristic based on how others described, but we would like to review the situation with you and see what we could do to assist. Please private message us with your VIN, mileage, and dealer so we can look into it for you.

Regards,

Jonathan
