Can a dealer guarantee 100% registerable with the DMV before payment?
Can a dealer guarantee 100% registerable with the DMV before payment?
Recently I went to the DMV in person to renew my car plates and they wanted a physical address which I don't currently have. They refused to renew the plates.
(Years ago I had given them a temporary physical address, and a mailing address which has not changed).
Days later I received at the mailing address, a registration renewal notice, which I paid online, and received the renewal stickers o.k.
Now I want to buy a new 2015 Fit. But I don't want to pay then find out the car cannot be registered.
Can a dealer check beforehand and guarantee to me that if I pay 100% by check (of course a few days to clear) with no loan for the Fit that it will be registered with the DMV?
Because otherwise I have to buy in in another state and use a relative's physical address.

I suspect you will be required to give a physical address that can be validated. This is required by law if I am not mistaken. Keep in mind this Registration process is a state law issue and not a dealer requirement. So be cautious with what the dealer tells you. I would recommend you check online with your state DMV to determine what information is required to register a vehicle. The Dealer will be required to follow these same guidelines and they are simply acting as a middle man between you and the DMV for the initial registration.

Motorhome full-timers just rent a mailbox at a private mailbox place. The address is "1234 Maple Street Suite 123". The people you give the address to don't have to know that the "suite" measures 5 inches square!
