dealer has put "tape" on all new cars
I was horrified to see that my local dealer has put some kind of tape on all new cars on the lot to advertise their dealership--like label tape or something. The size is approx. 3" by 3" and it looks kinda like this in colored tape on the back of every car

I don't want this crap on my new car! Now I don't want to buy from this dealership. I hate car dealerships. I don't understand why you can't just go in and buy a car and get straight answers on stuff. Now they're labeling the cars so I'm advertising their stinking dealership while I drive around
I wish I could call up Honda, order the car I want and have it delivered to my house. Or have it delivered to a dealership but then no have the dealership touch it

Yeah!
When I bought a new 89 Cavalier, the stealership drilled TWO HOLES in the aerodynamic front bumper to mount a license plate holder with their ad on it!
Man, was I pissed.
Got home, removed fricken plate holder, and promptly caulked the two holes with white silicone. It was a white car.
I remove ALL stealership ads from my vehicles.
That brings up another story. This story could/should be posted in another forum.
My car threw a service code. It related to oxygen sensors.
My selling stealership service advisor suggested that it might be caused, in part, by my after market cruise control.
He suggested that I might be obligated to pay for part of the repair cost.
I'm glad I am a Fitfreaker because some good soul posted here about this tactic that they use to enhance their revenue!
I took my 2008, with 800 miles on it, to a closer dealer and they repaired it under warranty.
It was a manufacturer's problem, not caused by my mods : )
Geez!

i agree just remove... its easy, hair dryer and fishing line is all you need, im pissed my dealer put holes in my front bumper to mount my front plate... next time i buy a car they will not get my cash till there is NO front plate.... i know its illegal, but hell i get the ticket, not them
How do you put plates on the front if the manufacturer does not build the car with this capability? People have to drill holes in their cars to do this? Yikes!!!
So removing these stickers does not leave an impression of the image or anything. I went and tried to remove some and got off some pieces but there was a "ghost image" of the sticker lettering.

when i removed my little sticker type thing i accidently scratched the hatch so i'm pretty pissed about that. And whats better is i didn't remove the front plate for a month not thinking about it. And now i havea permant scratch where it would rub on my bumper and i have this white line across where it was. pretty pissed about that too
Some dealerships offer a discount or free oil changes or something for their right to mark your car.
I agree with what someone else asked. Have them remove it. That way, if there are any problems (scratches, etc.) they have to fix it. If you can, have it added to your Due Bill (or whatever similar form they use).

A bit of rubbing alcohol should get any remaining residue off.
I have noticed several dealers which don't have any badges on the new vehivles on their lot, but add them during the "make ready".
When I bought an '02 WRX I meant to specify on the "Owe" document that no such placards would be accepted, but did not. As a result, I now own a heat gun.
The dealer for my Fit just uses vinyl lettering, which peeled off easily with a fingernail. A bit of wax, and the residue is gone.

So, do you heat it with the heat gun first then it just peels off? Will a hair dryer do? I saw this on Meguiars online but it was a bit vague.
