USB not resuming where it left off

I have a 2015 fit ex and I have noticed that the radio will automatically start at the first track of the first folder when using my USB stick. Is there any way to get it to resume playback where it left off. I hate having to hear the same song play every time I start the car. I also noticed that sometimes it does this and sometimes it resumes. Very random.

As long as I don't disconnect the USB stick, the radio will start USB play where it left off. Of course, if I remove and reinsert it, then yes, it starts on the first song it sees in the file system.

Mine also starts right where it left off. Have you experimented with the play options at the bottom of the screen? I have an LX and there are playback options that you can select with the channel pre-set buttons.

I still can't resolve this. So annoying. My wife's older USB stick will resume where it left off in my car, but mine won't. They both have the same folder structure. Root/folder/song. I thought that maybe USB 3.0 sticks won't resume, but USB 2.0 will? I haven't found any info on this online. I also tried both USB hubs in the car. Same results. If anyone has any more info on this, it would be great. Maybe someone using USB 3.0 can confirm it resumes, or 2.0 also.

Is the file system (FAT32, NTFS, etc) different between the two drives?

I have had problems with memory sticks too. If I am listening to an album and stop the car, it will not recognize the USB stick when it starts again. "No Device Attached". I have to repeatedly unplug and plug in the memory stick. When it is finally recognized the album starts up from where it left off.

It is recommended the partition is using FAT32. There is some oddball FAT32 known as exFAT which won't work.

Try copying the songs off the flash drive and then format it using FAT32. Then copy it back to see if it'll work correctly. Sometimes certain flash drives contains some wonky software which is known to mess some things up.

Mine works fine and always played where it left off.

It's the same. Formatted to FAT32. Same folder and file structure on both. The one that doesn't work is a PNY 32 gb mini.

I did exactly that a couple of days ago. Cut, format FAT32, and paste. Still with same results.

I called Honda customer care department and spoke with someone dealing with the radio. They couldn't figure it out. He said it is probably the USB stick. It's this one PNY Micro Sleek Attaché 32GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive Gray P-FDU32GSLKGRY-GE - Best Buy it's just frustrating. And I'm kinda tech savy too.

Mine picks up right where it stopped...and my memory stick is a exFAT 64gig. This is friggin' awesome. Every. Song. I. Have.

Interesting. Good to know it'll use that format. So I wonder if there is a correlation between brands of USB sticks?

Early SanDisk USB sticks had the U3 crap pre-installed and is known to mess up some PCs.

I should have included the type of USB stick in my original post. The dust cover won't quite close, but it nearly does.

Those are pretty cool. I may order one and see if it works fine with mine. I'll report back.

EDIT: I ordered the 32 gigs since don't need 64 gigs. Doubt size would make a difference. It could be an issue with USB 3.0.

I noticed an aggravating point this morning. Head unit does not remember "Random in Folder" setting when car is shut off and restarted.

I set USB playback to play random from a folder yesterday and it worked fine. This morning, it continued playing the same song as when I shut it off last night. Perfect. When that song ran out, it went to a random song in another folder on the USB drive. I checked and the "play random from folder" was still depressed. I turned that off and back on again and it played only random songs from within that folder once again.

Seems it forgets some things when powered down. I think this one is genuinely a bug.

FYI... I've ordered this SanDisk Ultra Fit™ CZ43 32GB USB 3.0 Low-Profile Flash Drive Up To 130MB/s Read- SDCZ43-032G-G46 and works fine with my radio head. Power it off and back on it resumes without issues.

Is able to read the songs on it without issues.
