that's why i suggest people don't put down deposit, don't special order
inventory is scarce for fit
if dealer don't have it on the lot just go on to other dealer that may have the trim and color you want in stock.

 

Honestly, from what I see on this forum, this is old news and the Fits coming out of Mexico are now on par with anything Honda's ever shipped.

The sad fact that the article points out is yes thefts on rail cars are fairly normal down in that area. To be fair theft happens everywhere, but down there it seems a lot less regulated/monitored. Where it happens is likely before it crosses the border into the US. During my time in my last logistics job I was doing cross border Mexico business with scrap metal. You be surprised how much scrap steel, lead, antimony, and dare I say copper? Absolutely you need armed escorts down there. Copper you are talking almost 2 million dollars on a single 53ft semi. My company stopped taking those loads because of the high cargo insurance costs. Cars are about the same in value when you get multiple cars on the car racks and put it on a flat rail car. Big $$$

Movie style: hijack it at full speed.

Realistically: hijack it when its forced to stop or travel at slower speeds.

You don't take the (automobile) car... you take the whole (train) car or the entire train itself.

 

With pretty much 50 years of buying cars, motorcycles, outboards, lawn care equipment, and generators, I've come to this conclusion. You're playing pretty good odds when you buy a Japanese nameplate. Probably 90-95% chance you'll get a product with impeccable quality.

But God help you if you don't. Honda, and with Yamaha right behind them, have an arrogant attitude that if you have a problem, it can't be them--it must be your fault. Their customer service is the worst in the industry--proof of that is evident in this forum, as well as boating, RV, motorcycle, and other forums.

They're doing damage control with folks like Jonathon, but until the Honda customer reps change their attitude, it's buyer beware with Honda, et al. They're coasting on their reputation, but with the Internet, they can't hide the folks they're screwing over.

 

When I bought my '09 Fit, I was able to choose from 25 Fits on the lot. The '15 Fit was promised in April. It's now nearly November, and the car is still "vaporware" from what I've seen. As much as I would like a new Fit, I'm not encouraged by what I'm hearing, and if Honda doesn't get this sorted out soon, I will run out of patience and buy something else.


Or I just may hang onto the tried and true '09 Fit for another few years.

 

I think they steal stuff while all those cars are parked, waiting to be loaded.

 

If that's the case, you don't end up with cars missing parts, you end up with entire missing cars.

 

what plague them is supply chain and poor quality supplier and logistics in mexico.
and the only problem this cause is car with poor quality material which to them is just characteristic problem of the car. not defect.
and not having enough inventory hitting the market.

problem isn't with the build quality and assembly.. it's with the poor quality of the parts coming from mexico suppliers.
