Unlocking the Doors
Unlocking the Doors
When I open the driver's door, only that door unlocks. The manual says that all doors should unlock when the Driver's door is opened (Page 103). On Page 104, it explains how to set it to that mode, but it doesn't work for me.
For one thing, it says to apply the parking brake, step on the brake pedal, and shift out of Park. You can't do that without starting the car. At least I can't. So, I started the car, shifted into N, and shut it off. Then I followed the directions, but opening the driver's door does not unlock the others.
Any comments?

As m_x pointed out to me, this configuring of the unlocking only applies to when the driver's door is opened from the inside--to exit. The default is that all doors open when the driver's door is opened, but IMO, that's an invitation to carjackers, so I disabled it.
In no case during the reconfiguration do you step on the brake pedal when pushing the Start button. In fact, I don't recall stepping on the brake at all.
If the reconfiguration has you closing the drivers door, open it before going through the steps. I use the same for a reconfiguration that has you putting the car in Park--I start out with it in neutral.

Those pages are referring to what doors auto unlock when you are leaving the car, not entering. For more info, see the existing thread below.

EDIT: Fitmo beat me to it.

Mine don't, and will not allow me to program it either.
I've tried the procedure on page 104-105 millions times and never hear that second click.
Also, who's brilliant idea to design the doors to unlock when the levers are pulled?
What if your passengers have their clothes/jacket caught the lever when the car is in motion and not wearing the seatbelts?
They'd fall straight out of the car and die.
