Question FF/RW songs, see position?

Liking this car so far, but not being able to see where in the song I am (ie, '3:15/4:25') is driving me bonkers; also that there seems to be no way to FF or RW within a track..

Is there an option for this I'm missing somewhere, or does this entertainment system with it's 7" screen lack the most basic of functionality?

Sadly you're not missing anything that would let you see the position in the track, at least that I can tell.

The OEM system is pretty sparse on features it seems. The one thing that grinds my gears is how the controls change when you change audio sources. For example, when playing from bluetooth, you can play and pause the track you are on. However, when you play from an iPod, play and pause options disappear! I don't think Honda got what they paid for when they paid someone to program this thing.

Well if you press and hold either forward or backward button it will do just that within the tracks. Yeah there are no dedicated buttons for that but it works.

Ah, that's good at least... thanks for the tip!

I am astonished that there is no play/pause button for iPod. I use the source button on the steering wheel.

When I play files from my flashdrive, there is a position in track timer on the right side of the screen, about centered (top to bottom). You may need to be showing the full track information. You can just press or hold and drag the little tab on the right side of the screen below the track name.

If you do this while driving who is looking out the windshield to see what you are going to hit?

I don't know but all these so called features seem to lead to more distracted driving. I kinda like the radio in my 09 with easy to use buttons/dial without having to look at it.

I completely agree. The touchscreen is a huge potential distraction. I was pretty sad to see the standard radio was removed this year. Our '13 has the same unit and it's great. I think touchscreens are more for waiting in a parking lot than driving. Besides, if I had the old unit I would have an auxiliary input.

I set up my music before I leave my driveway. Set it to a playlist, hit the tab so I can see the song, album art, etc. Then start driving.

I only use my touchscreen on the road when I want to change audio sources. With the big icons on the screen I'm not taking my eyes off the road for too long. Also, you can change sources from the steering wheel.

Yes it is distracting if you are using the touchscreen while driving, but Honda has done a good job incorporating as many controls as they can into the steering wheel buttons.

There are also things that can't be done while moving. There's a message that says the car needs to be stopped and some buttons are grayed out.

Blame the Feds. Honda did it in response to the upcoming requirement for back-up cameras that need a screen.
