Track Name on music display [CD] ???????
Track Name on music display [CD] ???????
is it possible to show the track name on the music display using a CD? i think you have to burn it with a certain format like .mp3 or .wmv or something. im using windows media player to burn, but ill gladly switch to make it work. anyone know how to make this possible? tryna get this going before the road trip to jersi lol
Yes it is possible, but I personally haven't made it work with WMP. Musicmatch Jukebox will work and possibly iTunes.
Edit: Just tried with iTunes and if you burn a CD with a track that is AAC format, it will not work. Will try later on with MPEG and MP3 formats.

looking at the file format of my songs, its in mp3 format, i think its always been like that, and it never worked to show up on the display. either that or the track information wasn't put in the right place. -shrugs-
i had a feeling it was mp3, since that is what they use for "mp3 players" and on those devices, the track info shows up. i guess it was just a matter of where you put the info, so it can show up. installing musicmatch jukebox as we speak :]
Which option do you use for making the CD, Jukebox Disc or Audio CD?
<:O damn!! i usually put like 20 tracks on my CDs... wtf am i doing wrong >.< lol btu i woudnt want 5 albums on a CD O.o too many times to press the next track button lol thats for mp3 players
No the albums are divided by folders, you use the the tune button to switch between albums.
You need to use Nero on Data CD mode and just add your albums of MP3's as a folder.
When I finish a CD all you see is the albums I added as folders, with their respective MP3's in each folder.

You can burn the CD as either a data CD or an audio CD, the Fit's radio can read both. Burn it as a data CD so you don't have a bunch of CD's floating around. I do what TekXoiD said he does: rip at 320kb/s, burn to a data CD. That'll fit 4 full albums on one CD no problem.
I use Windows Media Player (11) for all my music ripping and have had no problems with the track name and whatnot showing up. Before you rip the music to your computer, look at the track name, album name and whatever. WMP11, when connected to the internet, usually identifies the CD automatically and adds all the info per track into an embedded tag file (ID3v1 or ID3v2). If it doesn't automatically collect the info, you can add it manually before or after you rip the music.
As far as I know, only MPEG-3 (MP3) format will work. I wish MPEG-4 (AAC) worked, though. A song in AAC and at 128kb/s is about the same quality as an MP3 at 320kb/s bitrate, but the AAC would be only be about half the filesize as the MP3!
For those with Vista (and maybe XP, though I don't know if it'll work), you can burn a data CD by just putting a blank CD-R in and copying the music folders onto the CD-R (it'll show up as a disc drive) and then clikc "Burn to disc" up at the top. Simple as that!

I haven't checked which tracks work and which don't, but this feature generally works for me on audio cd's burned in iTunes. You have to make sure the "Enable CD Text" or something-or-other box is checked in the burn dialogue before you start burning.
In order for the track name to show up on the display, the mp3 must have an 'ID3' tag. The ID3 tag, which contains info like Artist, Title, Year, Genre, etc., is encoded into the mp3. You can add as much info as you like. There is a free program I use: "mp3tag". Simply having a file called "Something.mp3" does not mean the title "Something" will show up on the display, the file must be encoded with the ID3 tag, and then everything should function properly.
jukebox disc.
x2 for smart's post as well. the file must have a tag, but it will show the file name if there is no tag (just not the artist, album,or track name).
too bad our HU's dont scroll track names D:
