Just picked up a new 15 EX Fit and am kind of lost when it comes to using my iPhone. I'm synced through bluetooth for Pandora, so I'm all good there … but what are people doing in terms of HDMI and USB? Do either of these have much use aside from USB charging the phone?

How useful are the apps like Aha and Hondalink? I'm really kind of confused on what exactly these do.

I don't know a whole lot about most those things but do know that I can plug a thumb drive full of mp3s into the usb and it will play the music for me, cuz I asked on my first post here. That's all I really needed to know on that. I've avoided having a smart phone.

So USB is useful to me but with a synched phone and pandora it may not be for you.

 

I've plugged in a tiny usb drive in the console and use that for music. Reliable, no bluetooth worries. and then when I use google maps on my iphone 6 the audio on the maps plays through bluetooth. I have not bought the hdmi setup because i don't feel the need to have AHA. It is equivalent to adding 25 channels to my sat account and yet I hardly watch more than 5 of what I have.

I'd love to know however if the nav app is worth buying the cables. I know that if the vehicle is parked a netflix movie will play on the screen. It shuts off if the vehicle is moving. Somebody needs to crack that.

 

For the USB setting I created a playlist in iTunes and simply dragged and dropped it into the USB thumb drive. I have it set to play randomly and I've been really pleased with it -- more so than even using the iPod. I plan to buy a low profile USB drive so it'll take up even less room and stick out less.

For the HDMI, I understand it to be used in conjunction with the Honda app you can download from the App store. I think the app is $60. The reviews I've seen are disappointing so I haven't bothered with it. That being said, I use a standalone Garmin Nuvi that I've had for years so I may not be the best one to comment...

For Bluetooth, I've tried using my SiriusXM app and it works ok but honestly, the Sirius iPhone app is sort of clunky. It seems more suited for streaming at your desk.

I've really been enjoying the Pandora app. It's a little slow to start up and connect -- about 5-10 seconds -- but works really well once it's running.

My iPod contains my favorites so it's pretty much the same as the USB stick so I've really not bothered with using it that much once I tried the USB.

I'm excited about the Pandora built in feature, but lately when I scroll through sources I haven't even been seeing it, which has been weird. I've been playing my phone Pandora app through the Bluetooth source button, because the Pandora source on the car wouldn't show up.
