Fun Factor

For those of you that previously owned a Fit (GD or GE), how does the new fit stack up in terms of fun factor?

We're living in Japan at present and I've been hooked on the 2015 Fit since we first saw one here, and I am interested in picking one up this Fall when we're stateside again. A lot of the reviews I'm reading seem to point to the previous versions being a little more "fun" or having some more charm. Having never driven either I turn to you.

I traded in my 2010 Base 5 speed for a 2015 EX 6 speed.

It all depends on what your interpretation of "fun" is.

My 2010 was more go-cart like and the steering was a bit more responsive. I did get REALLY tired of the constant drone of the tires on pavement, though.

The 2015 is IMHO a more grown up version. The ride is better, the road noise isn't as pronounced as on my old one, and the technology/safety/standard equipment blow my old 2010 away. I can't believe my old one didn't even have cruise control.

I am just now getting used to the 6th gear, and am just breaking the car in but so far I have had a sh** eating grin on my face every time I get in it.

Thanks for the response, carrier. I can understand that the definition of fun differs from person to person.

I know the 2015 won't be a hot rod, but am hoping for something that's nimble and able to put a smile on my face during daily driving. A couple of things I like about the 2015 rare the 6 speed (shifting is half the fun of driving), new twin cam motor, and the facelift. On the flip side of the there's some really good deals around on certified used cars from previous generations.

We currently have one "boring car" a Subaru Legacy B4, and one "fun car" an EK9 Civic Type R and I'm looking for something to split the difference I guess.

Definitely not as fun as my GE/GD.

When I drove a GK I felt like it should have a Toyota/Scion badge, not the Honda 'H.'

I think a lot of the push-back comes from the MT group, so my opinion may not cover the ground you're interested in, but my 2015 is decidedly more agile, peppy, generally more quiet and smooth a ride, and certainly has more elbow room and classier appointments that the Sport (which I liked very much; it was totaled)
