Your comprehensive deductible and your collision deductible may not be the same ($1000). Comprehensive rates, which covers vandalism, are based on the claims rate in your geography. Filing a claim will not count against your record. In my case the comprehensive rates are so low that I carry 0 deductible comp and 250 deductible collision. I obviously do not live or work in San Fran. My point is for you to check with your insurance company to see what your comprehensive deductible really is. It may be less than 1000.

Someone broke the back window out of our Honda Odyssey, while we were in a public parking lot. We went to dinner downtown with friends and when we came back, we found the damage. Our insurance company asked if we filed a police report, but since they were my first call, we hadn't. Since we have been with them for over 20 years, they told us not to worry about it, and they scheduled the back window to be replaced.

Having said that, if there is a next time, the police will be my first call.
Well I called my insurance first, and I asked if should be making a police report. They basically said they didnt need it so dont do it on their account, but also if there was no witnesses it could be a potential waste of time.

Well its been a while, but the repairs are apparently almost complete and I can pick my car up tomorrow afternoon! Total was around $4,600 bucks!!

They had to completely replace the roof, as when trying to repair one dent the other dents would buckle more and the metal was stretched at that point...

Now does anyone know any do's and don'ts when getting this back, I plan on giving the car a huge once over while there before I leave. I am hoping they don't frown upon that...

$4600?? Ouch! I'm always amazed at how much bodywork costs. What's that yellow cone for on your dash?

Do's and Don'ts:
Do-enjoy it when you get it back
Don't-let anyone jump on it

The yellow cone has a number on it. I think its there for ID because all the other cars had one with different numbers.
